Everything about blogging!

lady bloggerAnyone who can put pen to paper can write a blog. This may sound like a sweeping statement – but it’s nevertheless true. You don’t have to be the world’s leading technical author to write a diary and as a blog is basically a ‘diary-oriented’ web-page, anyone who can put a sentence together can start a blog – if they have something on their mind they want to the world to read about. I hear you say ‘I know nothing about computers’ - so you might need some help starting off - but as you’ll see in the micro-blogging section later, if you only have a mobile phone (who doesn’t these days??), then you don’t even need a computer!!

It is a great platform to voice ideas. For example, if you have a project you’re thinking of starting, writing a blog about it will encourage thoughts and suggestions from others. It may be the start of something big, then again it may be dismissed out of hand as soon as you find out it’s been done already.

On the downside (but depending on your enthusiasm it needn’t be), readers of blogs will expect regular updates or else they will drift away in search of something else to keep their attention. The most obvious way to do this is to tell your audience when the next update will be, when you post the last one. Think of filling in your diary. It’s a regular task, not one to be done once a month when you get around to it.
